I have installed several flip down monitors and DVD players that were more money and not half as good as this unit. First off the display is clear and bright. Lots of flip downs have horrible viewing angles and can only be seen if right on center. This unit was installed in a 2010 Honda Pilot. No matter what seat you sit in or how high up or down in the seat you are the picture looks clear and bright. Some reviews on this item say that they cannot play any mp4′s from the usb drive. I easily found out from Valor to encode mp4′s using XVID as the codec and AVI as the output container. If you download Super by erightsoft(freeware)you can easily convert movies to XVID which play perfectly on this player. Since the screen is only 9.2 inches you can compress a DVD movie down to about 600mb. I have a 16gb usb drive and it holds about 24 movies right now. They all look great on this player and I never have to carry DVD’s in a binder and get them all scratched up anymore. I recommend using an audio cable via the audio out and connect into your head units Aux input. The FM modulator built into this unit works well but introduces static at higher volumes.

Does the job. Installed myself in 2004 Sienna. DVD tray is not in the best location and close to roof panel. Very bright and clear image at wide viewing angle. Kids love it. Sound over car stereo via built in transmitter is also quite decent, but recommend the wireless headphones.

After extensive searching for the best possible affordable DVD player we decided to purchase this one. We had it professionally installed and we couldn’t be happier with this. My son is NOT a car baby but we have no problems now, this DVD player is very well put together and haven’t had any problems so far. Have had it installed for about 4 months now and we use it almost everyday! I would recommend this product, a little pricy but well worth every penny.

Advantages:

Fits nice with my Odyssey.

Color gels well with my car (Bally blue with grey interior)

Widescreen with a great look. Neat video, very clear and very nice.

Instead of car audio, if you use wireless IR headset, the audio is amazing. The car audio is great if you turn it to almost full volume on a freeway.

Disadvantages:

You cannot rotate it (Its not an issue for me, however thought worth mentioning).

– Although this is not a feature, I couldnt find the information anywhere.

Latch had a problem. It was not opening probably. I had to have the installer shove it a bit to fit properly. Not all pieces will have this problem, however i got the defective one and was easily able to fix it.

Had to turn the car audio to almost full (3/4th atleast) to get a good audio on freeway.

Conclusion:

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. As long as they are ok with minor disadvantages, for a less price this product is a great purchase.

So far so good. The overhead lights are led type, not incandescant, so they have a white/bluish tint compared to the other lights in the car, and they are not as bright as my old unit that this replaced, but they work fine. The DVD player stores your place on the movie when you shut it off, so that it picks up where you left off when you turn it back on. Great sound through aux input on my sony stereo. Good picture. Seems to be built well, has a good feel. All the needed controls are at your fingertips and the remote works well too. The volume control does control the Aux output to the stereo which is nice, my old unit did not. We’ll see how long it lasts, hopefully a long time. I only wish it came w/ a pair of IR headphones, but I was able to find an inexpensive universal headphone without any problem.
